Nicaragua está en una profundo clima de tensión desde hace más de 100 días. Las protestas contra el gobierno de Daniel Ortega se suceden desde el mes de abril y, hasta ahora, han dejado un balance de más de 300 víctimas mortales, según diferentes conteos.
Muchos de ellos son estudiantes universitarios, que encarnan el símbolo del levantamiento popular en el país centroamericano contra el actual mandatario, que lleva en el poder 11 años y ha sido acusado de corrupción y abuso de poder. Por su parte, Daniel Ortega atribuyó la violencia de estos meses a grupos paramilitares "organizados por gente que está en contra del gobierno" y reiteró su intención de seguir como presidente hasta 2021.
